Call for Papers

Emerging voices in political geography

RGS-IBG Annual Conference, London, UK

1-4 September 2026

We would like to invite submissions for the panel ’emerging voices in political geography’ at the upcoming Royal Geographic Society-Institute of British Geographers (RGS-IBG) annual conference to be held in London, United Kingdom, between 1-4 September 2026. This panel is open to all postgraduate, doctoral and post-doctoral researchers, and aims to provide a supportive and collegial environment to present their research at a major academic conference. The session will provide a dynamic, engaging and inclusive space for academic growth, and is a good opportunity for early career researchers to make connections with the wider political geography research networks.

Submissions can range from initial project plans, methodological or theoretical interventions as well as analysis drawn from empirical research. Papers are encouraged to engage with a wide conceptualisation of political geography and there is no restriction on geographical area or topic of focus. We are keen to hear about creative, innovative and topical research, along with research that challenges, transforms and reimagines the scope of the discipline of political geography. We invite both single and multiple authored papers.
